As Managing Editor of The Honorable Mention newsletter, I’ve refined my ability to assemble story ideas by leading brainstorm meetings and collaborating with my editors to imagine 50 story ideas over the course of three years.

I approach story brainstorming in three steps. First, I determine the various types of content necessary based on word count, story style, and publication format. Then, I lead the conversation to determine the central theme and message of the publication.

Lastly, the editors and I share story ideas related to community-centered current events and meaningful news or achievements
in the community.

I’ve managed five printed newsletter issues for over 500 community members.
